Club Mission

The Ronald McDonald House of Providence (RMHP) Running Club promotes the benefits of health, wellness, fitness, and competition among people of all ages and abilities through running and walking. We support our members with motivation, encouragement, and coaching to attain personal goals and top performance.

The Club provides an enjoyable social atmosphere while publicizing and supporting the mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England, a nonprofit organization that helps families with children facing serious illness. Most people don’t realize that the fantastic services the House provides depend primarily on contributions from outside the organization’s corporate namesake.

To learn more about the running club, contact us by email or drop by the Brown University Stadium during a workout time.

The club’s Bylaws can be found here.

Club History

The RMHP Running Club began in 2006 with a small band of runners who wanted to raise awareness for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England while sharing a love for running. Today the club has more than 300 men and women of all shapes, sizes, ages, abilities, backgrounds, and outlooks. Our members include serious competitors as well as those running or walking for fitness. All of us benefit from the volunteer services of legendary professional coaches, who offer a variety of training days and times each week.

While it is not a requirement to help the House, our club has been able to raise well over $50,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England in each of the past few years. We are proud of our signature event, the Women’s 5K Classic, a 3K walk and 5K run, held each October.

About the Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports families with children from birth to 21 years old who are hospitalized or receive major medical treatment at nearby hospitals. The House’s programs allow families to spend additional time with a sick child, help ease financial burdens, provide a sense of normalcy, and keep families together during times of medical crisis. Each year nearly 300 families stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Providence, and an additional 1,900 enjoy the comforts of the Family Room.
